Benefits of Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)  By  John Pham

Technology is supposed to help you save time, and for those of you who are too lazy to cut corners, this article is not for you. CSS is the ultimate text style editor for a website, no, make that the ultimate text editor for all websites. The reason is simple: when a CSS style is updated or changed, the formatting of all the documents that use that style sheet are automatically updated as well. This means you can update all the text styles (size, font, colors, etc.) for the entire website by updating one single document.

CSS has been around for a number of years, however early web designers were reluctant to use it as browser support was inconsistent or not at all. CSS style sheets work in 4.0 and later browsers, so the compatibility issue no longer exists. There are multiple ways to create a CSS, you can hand code it or use the wizards available in Dreamweaver, FrontPage, or other html editors. Once it is created, you need to link it to your web page as it is an external document. Lastly, remember to upload it to the property directory on your server, otherwise your text will not have any style.
